Definition

Basic principles which are purported to protect people; agreement on the substance of the principles and application of the principles is subject to widely divergent views.

Different national constitutions have different rights that are enumerated. Not all constitutions will have rights, and not all constitutions will have a specific right to food.

Example: Right to food, right to life.
